REVIEW: Mortal Kombat 11

We got to try our hands at the latest installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat 11 earlier this week thanks to our friends at Fiveight and we had an absolute blast. Check out our thoughts below!

Mortal Kombat 11 brings back everything you know and love when it comes to the franchise but delivers stunning visuals and new additions including a more fleshed out story mode and further customization options for characters. The story mode builds on the past 25 years of Mortal Kombat history to create a highly cinematic narrative that centers on a conflict between Raiden and Kronika, the Keeper of Time.

The game brings back some fan favorite characters including Raiden, Skarlet, Sonya Blade and more and introduces some fresh blood (literally) to the mix. The beauty of Mortal Kombat as always is that every single character has a unique fighting style and abilities and with multiple play modes including online, tournament, local, AI Battle and the aforementioned story mode you are never bored. The high quality of modern animation techniques makes the fatalities cut-scenes shockingly detailed and engaging. The graphics are breathtaking at times and really allow you to enjoy the increased amount of character customizations (So MANY amazing Cosplay ideas in this game!)

This is not a game for those with weak stomachs as the level of gore is high. We’ve yet to explore too deeply into the story mode and Krypt area so can’t comment on what we think of those parts of the game but honestly we could just play tournament mode for hours, Mortal Kombat 11 manages to inject some new life into the franchise whilst also holding on to everything audiences love about the games.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available NOW on PlayStation, X-Box and Nintendo Switch.
