About Michael jai white

Michael Jai White is an American actor, director, and martial artist whose career spans blockbuster films, cult favourites, and genre-defining action classics. He first gained widespread recognition for his breakout starring role as heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in HBO’s Tyson (1995). He then made history portraying Al Simmons in Spawn (1997), becoming the first African American actor to lead a major comic-book superhero film. 

White continued to cement his reputation in the action world with prominent roles opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in Universal Soldier: The Return (1999) and Steven Seagal in Exit Wounds (2001). His diverse filmography includes acclaimed appearances in The Dark Knight (2008) and the cult hit Black Dynamite (2009). His expertise is showcased in standout martial arts films including Undisputed II: Last Man Standing (2006) and Blood and Bone (2009), solidifying him as one of the most respected action performers of his generation.

As a filmmaker, White has both directed and headlined several action features, including Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown (2011), Never Back Down: No Surrender (2016), and the western action comedy Outlaw Johnny Black (2023). His voice work extends to major projects such as Justice League Heroes (2006), Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021), and Marvel’s Midnight Suns (2022). He can currently be seen opposite Ernie Hudson in BET’s “The Family Business”. 

A lifelong martial artist, White began training at age seven and is skilled in Kyokushin, Taekwondo, Kobudo, Shotokan, and the Superfoot System.
