About Sarah Jeanne Mgeni

From and early age, Sarah Jeanne Mgeni expressed an interest in art and sewing, eventually making her way to study fashion and costume design.  A chance encounter with director Spike Lee in 2003 led her to the world of film and tv production and now her experience spans the field of costume design, from film and theatre, television and commercials, and including three years as a Specialty Costume Fabricator for Global Effects, Inc in Sun Valley, CA.  It was these early experiences that led her to another chance encounter with Costume Designer Laura Jean Shannon with whom she has been acting as assistant designer since 2018 on several of LJ’s projects, most recently on THE BOYS and Vought Rising (series-Amazon), Red One (feature-Amazon), Doom Patrol (series-Max), Titans (series-Max), and the upcoming third instalment in the Jumanji movie franchise.

When not assisting, Sarah also designs and fabricates costumes for smaller independent projects such as the Princess Rap Battle series (Youtube), Still a Rose (short film - HAZART) and robot concept and creation for Nostalgia Burns the third album from Scottish Band Siiga.

Sarah is a member of The Costume Designers Guild (IATSE local 892) and Motion Picture Costumers - Specialty Costume Fabricator (IATSE local 705) . She is based out of Los Angeles, CA
