Onwards to 2023!

Posted December 14, 2022

Hey Hey! As we come to the end of 2022 and celebrate the return to in-person guests and being able to hold five events across the year, we turn towards the coming year and some exciting new additions to Armageddon. We have six events planned across the year and are pleased to announce dates for the full year, starting with…

TAURANGA – MARCH 25/26TH AT BAYPARK ARENA
The Tauranga event will have a light guest focus, with our aim to have one bigger star attending and be the first event to feature the High School Esports League taking place across the year at the events. Sunday will feature a full afternoon of K-Pop performances!

WELLINGTON – APRIL 22/23RD AT SKY STADIUM + CHRISTCHURCH – APRIL 29/30TH AT TE PAE
Returning to the traditional April slot, these two events will host an array of celebrity guests with a planned focus on Doctor Who (fingers crossed), our first international comic guest in some time, plus additional gaming displays and events!

AUCKLAND WINTER – JUNE 3-5TH AT THE AUCKLAND SHOWGROUNDS
With a mix of animation and celebrity stars, the primary focus will be entertainment and gaming, with a step up on this year’s Esports Open moving into hall one and including Valorant and League of Legends tournaments. Expectation is to provide an interactive and exciting winter celebration for you all!

PALMERSTON NORTH – AUGUST 5/6TH AT FLY PALMY ARENA
More gaming with the high School Esports League, and a similar focus to Tauranga with a tighter guest line-up featuring a bigger star.

AUCKLAND SPRING – OCTOBER 20-23RD AT THE AUCKLAND SHOWGROUNDS
Rounding off the year and featuring our biggest celebrity and media international line-up, with discussions underway for a featured Star Trek star. Gaming, anime, cosplay collectibles and more!

And that’s where we are at now. We have numerous cosplay and special events planned for the expos and are always looking for new activities (like the Red Light, Green light event that started this year) plus we’re hoping to add some interesting musical activations.

It’s a true joy to feel like things are returning to ‘normal’ or whatever the new normal will be and we look forward to sharing our love of geekdom with you all as we head into the twenty eighth year of Armageddon in Aotearoa.
